Hector del Curto

The main reason I went to Houston’s iFest this year was to hear Tango music from the amazing Hector del Curto.  Hector has been recognized as one of the best Bandoneón players but he’s also formed many orchestras, quintets and such, all featuring Argentinian  Tango music.    Additionally, Hector directed the Broadway show Eternal Tango. Hector is from Buenos Aires, Argentina but now lives in New York City.

To my surprise,  three couples from that show danced on stage during his performance at the iFest.  After watching the opening performance without blinking, for fear of missing anything, I flicked my camera to VIDEO and shot the entire next song.

The music, the atmosphere, the romance, the sensual drama…..This is why I love Tango!

Here is Hector del Curto with Eternal Tango dancers Mauro Caiazza and Daniela Kizyma.

  1. Is funny I use to be a dancer and one of the dances I never got to do was the Tango! I think is so beautiful and sensual not to mention very passionate! Its definitely “Art in Movement”. My mother was a dancer in Cuba, guess it runs in the blood! And I loved when we would sit down drinking coffee and she would tell me her stories about her dancing life, the Tango was her favorite and from what I heard she was AMAZING!!!!!..

    • Wouldn’t it be fun to visit Cuba with her? Maybe you could write about some of the things you and she talked about! I’ve always wanted to go to Cuba. I’ve heard other nationalities are able to visit and love Cuba. I can’t wait for the doors to open again for US citizens. I love the music, the people, the food…all of it. Always wanted to go.

  2. That’s a cool idea, I might find some images of her dancing and write about her!!! Yeah I would love to go their as well!!

  3. Nice, sensual dancing on this video! I have been to Cuba, long time ago now, but really enjoyed the music, the dancing, the lovely people, and want to go back for the same reason (and the weather/beaches). I have never been to US, yet…….
