Last night, Patty and I joined friends at Brennan’s of Houston for a wonderful evening, taking advantage of Houston’s Restaurant Weeks special menu. Participating restaurants donate $5-7 to the Houston Food Bank benefitting underfunded families.
Brennan’s offers the finest in Texas coastal cuisine, combining Louisiana creole flavors with southern style cooking, such as their trademark turtle soup. Inside, the decor is white table cloths and deep-cushioned chairs, men in dinner jackets, ladies in dresses, cocktails at the bar and well, it’s simply the best of Houston’s fine dining experiences.
Beyond the turtle soup, you’ve got to have the Bananas Foster, prepared table side with rich aromas of sizzling butter, sugar and cinnamon rising up from the skillet. There’s shrimp (we had ‘shrimp corn dogs with okra and peppercorn – to die for!), crab, beef, chicken and lots of seafood selections on the menu for every person’s dietary desires . The service is excellent and vigilant. I used the Sommelier to help choose a red wine to go with our meal. He suggested the perfect bottle of Cote d’ Rhone and we loved it.
Last night was a delightful experience with friends and Brennan’s remains one of my top Houston restaurant choices.
