Phantom Thread (my review)

Oh yes, you gotta see this movie.

THIS! This is the kind of role that every actor must dream of. This is true Academy Award material here. Whether it’s Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Costume or Best Movie….this is truly a gem in the field of great movies in the drama category.

It’s got the difficulties of love, the cold, harshness of a disciplined genius, the beauty of a woman and the vulnerability of giving yourself totally to something or someone that you love. There’s high society and ballroom galas, there’s astounding gown design and meticulous couture, there’s the stuffy, rigid formality of English protocol and there’s passion for one’s method of artistic expression – all wrapped up in a very difficult and complicated relationship that sometimes takes a twisted look at how one must safeguard their lover.

Daniel Day Lewis plays the renown dressmaker who, right off the bat you’ll despise but appreciate too.   Vicky Krieps plays his lover and his muse – a woman to whom you’ll want to say, ‘Be Careful’ when you’re with this man.  And  Lesley Manville perfectly plays the only real reliable person in the show, with her stiff formality and detached emotions.

This is a winner of a movie!
